    Access to Work: Disability scheme 'not reaching people'

    As reported on the BBC website: "substantial numbers of disabled people are missing out on government support to help them into work, MPs have said.

    The government's Access to Work programme suffers from a lack of funding and publicity, the Work and Pensions Select Committee report found."

    Impact of changes to Learning Support in the post-19 sector

    Dear Colleagues

    NIACE has been commissioned by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to research the impact of Learning Support changes which were introduced in the academic year 2013/14.

    This survey is for practitioners in the post-19 sector in England. It aims to find out what impact, both positive and negative, the change to Learning Support has had for providers, and how they are working to overcome any challenges they face.

    Make mental health bigger priority

    Mental health needs to be more of a priority, with targets for waiting times and more protection for funding, says England's chief medical officer.

    Her annual report said mental illness led to the loss of 70 million working days last year - up 24% since 2009.

    New Equality and Diversity Good Practice Fund (2014/15)

    The Skills Funding Agency (the Agency) has announced a further round of equality and diversity grants:

    "...with a focus on embedding and sustaining good practice. A prospectus will be available by the end of September for Skills Funding Agency-funded colleges and training organisations to bid for up to £30,000 to deliver six month projects. The Fund will be managed by the Equality Challenge Unit on behalf of the Agency."
