Ways to Wellbeing Redcar and Cleveland-phase 2

A DfE Community Learning | Mental Health Research site 2015-18

Welcome to 'Ways to Wellbeing' the dedicated web page for Redcar Adult Learning’s community learning mental health research site in Redcar and Cleveland. Here we share our journey and the lessons we learned as our project developed.

Moving into Phase 2

In the extension phase, we widened some of the topic areas to ensure that we had a mix of mental health focused courses ready for Phase 2.

Marketing and recruitment

Much of our marketing was face-to-face and we used our annual community learning brochure to indicate the range of courses available. We had some publicity that went to the general public that asked for volunteers to join the research and also advertised courses. In the links below you'll find examples of our marketing.

Teaching, learning and assessment

In the extension phase we offered all of our traditional community learning courses. We found that if we approached larger community groups throughout the area we created larger courses. We then went out to the public to infill these courses.

What Next?

Funding hasn't been sought to continue the type of work the project has been involved in. The decision was taken by local commissioners to leave mental health solely in the hands of Public Health.
