Marking World Mental Health Day 2013 on Thursday 10 October, this interactive webinar will support leadership in safeguarding and build better practice as part of a whole organisation approach to safeguarding.

When a learner or colleague takes their own life it is a traumatic experience for peers to have to deal with and the repercussions are felt throughout the organisation both in the moment and several months later. Everyone is affected. For young people it is often the first time they experience the death of someone in their own age group, making other young people more vulnerable to suicide.

Often an aspect of safeguarding that is forgotten or avoided suicide has the potential to affect every type and size of learning organisation. This makes it important for us to be proactive and include in our safeguarding plans how we will prevent suicide, respond effectively in a crisis and, if necessary, support staff and learners after someone has taken their own life.

The webinar will give you the tools to:

  • review your whole organisation approach to preventing suicide
  • respond effectively if you suspect a learner or a colleague is considering taking their own life, attempts to take their own life or has taken their own life

And help you:
