Jan's Journey So Far

I was introduced to The Learning Curve through Campbell Page in Trowbridge. I was on the Work Programme. James gave us an introduction to the Mental Wellbeing Project and I signed up to be a research volunteer. After the initial assessment, I was eligible for the 5 week Creative Crafting course at the Melksham office.

At first I was anxious and apprehensive about meeting new people but the tutor, Bev, made us all very welcome and I felt at ease.

Over the 5 weeks we covered crafts such as digital photography, sewing and decoupage. On the final week, I demonstrated how to make a buttonhole for a wedding using fresh flowers using my skills from being a fully qualified florist.

I enjoyed every week I attended and it was lovely to learn new skills. As a creative person I enquired about being a helper on further Creative Crafting courses as part of the project. I was delighted when I was accepted.

Being involved with The Learning Curve has opened doors for me. I am now refreshing my IT skills through studying ECDL at the Melksham office. I am extremely grateful as it has given me a positive outlook when thinking about my future employment.
