5 ways to wellbeing on Southall Radio

Recently, I got the opportunity to talk on a radio station called Southall Radio on a  regular slot called ‘care to share’  . Having had a close friend take part in an interview a week before - I took the opportunity to give our project and the MHFE some airtime.  I chose the topic of 5 ways to wellbeing and it was given in English.

I hoped to reach the diverse audience of Southall radio with the content in the hope that it would raise the importance of the awareness of mental health to the public.  I was a little nervous on entering the studio that day but I found Rowdy Faroqi the director of programming to be a very warm presenter with a very relaxed way of interviewing and questioning.  I enjoyed the broadcast quite a lot more than I initially thought – I felt it to be much more like an open conversation and it was kept light-hearted.

Rowdy has suggested there is some free air space in the future at Southall radio , and I suggested an idea of a wellbeing radio station to him which is something we could do with volunteers it can also help young people get experience in supporting broadcasts.  I posted this out to the MHFE colleges and got some positive feedback.. So you can say that I am seeking other colleges who have staff , partners or learners who may wish to take part in giving audio interviews or providing pre-recorded stories of life and recovery in the West London area. I  have a bit of a learning curve to get around  but being an apprentice of this art is already giving me an idea for some fresh new courses in Radio at RACC and this is  something Rowdy is interested in helping out with.
