Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Day - Getting learners involved#2

The talk at Bournemouth University went very well - the learners (Sara and Vicky) we invited were truly inspirational. I am really looking forward to sharing the video when it has been edited.

Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Day - Getting learners involved

Firstly, good luck to everyone delivering any workshops, webinars or talks this week as part Mental Health Awareness Day.

Towards the end of the summer term, I asked learners to donate some of their work so we could have an exhibition to celebrate the work they had done. I was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and quantity of work that was handed in. We had enough for three displays - Bournemouth, Poole and Dorchester Libraries. The learners were really proud to display their work and share it with friends and family.

Blue Sky Afternoon Tea

Today, we had our monthly Afternoon Tea drop in. We are very fortunate at the Rycote centre that we have a cafe area that we can use as it is a teaching cafe so free sometimes. The second Monday in every month is our time to talk about the research offer to anyone who is interested, in a warm and welcoming environment, very Community learning.

I thought it would be a nice idea to capture how people felt about community learning on World Mental Health day. Some really nice conversation was captured in speach bubbles, from newcomers, learners, volunteers and tutors.

World Mental Health Day 2015

Hi All

World Mental Health Day is 10th Oct 2016.  Blackpool held a big event in 2015 for local services to show what is available for those who have mental health issues.  The event was attended by 3000 residents of Blackpool and took part in a variety of activities including Bollywood dancing and Tai Chi (see attached link to a TV recording of the event).

The Thinking Environment

Could all you wonderful mhfe people wish me luck today as I use the Thinking Environment in part of our team meeting please?

I recognise that I won't be as inspiring as Lou Mycroft but I'm going to give it a go!

I'm rather unsure how it will be received, but I feel quite certain that once the team see the benfits of:

Barnsley - WOW - a busy two days!

Well back from Barnsley

WOW - What a full on two days ……..  I must say from my perspective, it was really useful meeting with all the other members from group A, as it now feels much more supportive and collaborative in what we do moving forward.

Then back to work to process everything – with a report on the event and information to cascade down to My Manager – up dates for the tutors delivering on the project – partners – Stakeholders Steering Group – Service Users Steering Group –

Our First blog - An IAG Case Study

This is our first blog and it has been really interesting to read what others have put on here. It’s great to see all of the success stories which have motivated and inspired our own delivery. We have found the IAG has proven to be successful in finding the right courses for the right person, however last week I came up against my first negative experience; not just from my point of view.

Learner comments from Phase 1

As a team, we are thrilled with the comments left by our learners in Phase 1.  It is lovely to know that we are making an impact in their lives.

"I just wanted to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend one of your courses.  This has renewed my interest in old hobbies that I lost through depression.'
