Diversity Today - World Refugee Day

Today is... ‘World Refugee Day’

A “Refugee” is a person who is recognised by the government as having a fear of being persecuted in their country for reasons of Race, Religion, Nationality, Membership (of a particular group), Political Opinion. Refugees can apply for British
Citizenship after 5 years.

An “Asylum Seeker” is someone who is waiting for the government to decide if they are regarded as a refugee (note - not all refugees have been Asylum Seekers).
