* Anxiety is a type of fear usually associated with the thought of a threat or something going wrong in the future, but can also arise from something happening right now
* In England, women are more likely than men to have a common mental health problem and are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders
* The UK population is ageing rapidly, with the number of people aged 65 and over growing by nearly half in the past 30 years. People living longer is a cause for celebration, but older people are more vulnerable to mental health problems
* Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain, with 9% of people meeting criteria for diagnosis
