LSIS 2011/12 Mental health leadership development project: Developing learning and skills opportunities for learners with a mental health condition
In 2011/12 LSISdefinition is undertaking two inspiring development projects to improve learning and skills opportunities in FEdefinition for people with a mental health condition.
'Developing learning and skills opportunities for learners with mental health conditions' is one of these two projects.
LSIS has made grants of £3250 to 5 providers from the FE and skills sector, to use the funding to develop and work to an action plan that seeks to help you as a practitioner develop skills and understanding in two areas of programme or curriculum development;
- Understanding funding and planning e.g. by working with your Finance Director and staff
- Networking and partnership working, particularly within your own organisation e.g. working with other curriculum teams
Successful applicants will work with an LSIS associate to produce a case study of the work they have done and provide feedback to the associate on their own learning and development that has happened as a result of involvement in the project. The role of the associate is to bring all the projects together, provide on-going support and produce a final report for LSIS
The 5 successful applicants for this project are listed below (A-Z order) with links to their individual project pages
- Friends Centre, Brighton (3rd sector Adult and Community Learning provider)
- Hertfordshire Music Service (Family Learningdefinition provider)
- Highbury College (FE College)
- Loughborough College (FE College)

They had their compulsory induction workshop in London on Friday 9th December.
Next steps are to start implementing their plans, which includes developing their MHFEdefinition project page where they will be sharing their plans, progress and personal learning journeys.
